A children's book in progress
Last summer, Arturo the parrot and I went up the hill to Svartbäcksgården to welcome a group of tenants. They wanted to know about Arturo. I told them about our almost 60-year history and mentioned that I hoped to write a children's book in the future. The next day, one of the group knocked on my door. She had been so taken by Arturo's story! It turned out to be Gunilla Lundgren, a very experienced and prolific children's author, who had knocked on my door. She thought she had written her last children's book, a story about the Dalai Lama, but now she felt compelled to write about Arturo. Might we write a children's book together? It was a great opening for both of us! An intense and exciting collaboration began. I told the story, Gunilla wrote it, and after a few months we were happy with our manuscript. We sent it to several publishers and have received a positive response from one of them. A richly illustrated, colorful chapter book will be published in about a year.
